Fortunately, your valet trash service at The Pointe - Hilliard has that covered for you. But if you’re ready to let go of some items that don’t fall under conventional paper, plastic, and aluminum recycling, you might need some additional guidance. Here are some helpful resources for recycling around Hilliard, and how to safely get rid of large, toxic, and electronic items too.

Food

Hilliard Ohio’s city government offers a variety of resources for recycling in Hilliard. Hilliard actually has a composting program to make use of organic food waste, help divert it from landfills, and reduce carbon emissions that harm the environment. The composting program accepts organic food materials such as fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, grains, pasta, and beans.

Miscellaneous and hazardous items

Additionally, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) offers more than two dozen recycling drop-off locations around the greater Columbus area, so if you happen to miss recycling day at your apartment, you have a backup option just six minutes away from The Pointe Hilliard at Columbus Fire Station 30. The SWACO website also lists recycling options for everything from coffee pods to concrete! Here is just a little of the guidance you’ll find there:

  • Search for locations to recycle hazardous items such as paint, motor oil, medical waste and pharmaceuticals.

  • Never throw away or drop off a used propane tank. SWACO says even when a propane tank appears to be empty, it may still have enough fluid in it to cause an explosion. Check with retailers like Blue Rhino about recycling your unwanted propane tanks. There are seven locations within three miles of The Pointe-Hilliard Apartments.

  • Also check this website for recycling miscellaneous items like books, toys, tires, electronics, and furniture.
