Working from Home

How to Balance Work and Free Time

Whether you usually work from home or you recently transitioned to "WFH" because of current social distancing recommendations, there are plenty of things you can do to stay productive while "on the clock" in your apartment. Check out our favorite tips for mastering the work from home experience!

Create a Routine

Keeping a routine even when you're no longer commuting to an office helps you get into work mode. So, be as consistent as you can – for example, wake up around the same time as you normally would on weekdays and change out of your pajamas. And make time for a lunch break every day.

Create an Engaging and Efficient Work Space

If you have a laptop, you might be tempted to make your sofa your “office.” But it’s easier to stay focused when you have a designated work area.

At The Pointe, all of our floor plans can easily accommodate a home office – set up your office in a second bedroom, create a work area in your living room, or use your kitchen island as a standing desk.

Designate Boundaries

When your office is in your apartment, it can be difficult to separate work and personal time. Create boundaries about where and when you work – for example, don’t respond to emails while in your bedroom, or after a certain time of day.

Keep in Touch

Some people love the privacy of working from home. But even if you focus better in this kind of environment, make time for some face-to-face interaction with your colleagues via videoconference – too much isolation can be stressful.
